Terms of Service
Sanctorum Operated by Sanctorum Labs Pty Ltd (ACN 700 724 625, ABN 78 700 724 625)
Effective date: 13 September 2026 Last updated: 13 September 2026
1. These terms, in plain English
This is the agreement between you and us about using Sanctorum. The important points:
- Sanctorum is a study tool, not medical advice. Never use it to make a decision about a real patient. Section 9 explains this and it matters more than anything else here.
- You subscribe on our website, not inside the app. The app is where you learn; the website is where you pay.
- Your account is yours alone. Sharing a login is the one thing that will get an account closed.
- You keep your consumer rights. Nothing in this document takes away rights the Australian Consumer Law gives you, and nothing can.
The rest is the detail. Please read it — by using Sanctorum you are agreeing to all of it.
2. Who we are and who you are
"Sanctorum", "we", "us" and "our" mean Sanctorum Labs Pty Ltd (ACN 700 724 625, ABN 78 700 724 625), an Australian proprietary company registered in South Australia.
"You" means the person using Sanctorum. "The Service" means the Sanctorum website, the Sanctorum mobile and tablet applications, and all content in them.
Your contract for Sanctorum is with us, not with Apple or Google. They distribute our app; they do not provide the Service and they are not responsible for it. See section 15.
3. Accepting these terms
By creating an account, or by using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
4. Who can use Sanctorum
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- If you are under 18, you may use the free features of the Service, but you must be at least 18 to take out a paid subscription.
- You must give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
- You must not use the Service if we have previously closed your account for breaching these terms.
5. Your account
- Keep your login private. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
- One account, one person. Accounts are personal to you. You must not share, sell, lend or transfer your login, and you must not let anyone else use your subscription.
- We monitor for account sharing — for example, the same login being used by clearly different people at the same time. If we find it, we may suspend or close the account under section 12. This is the single most common way a subscription gets cancelled, so please do not do it, however well intentioned.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has your password: support@sanctorumlabs.com.
6. Subscriptions, payment and cancellation
6.1 How you subscribe
Subscriptions are purchased on the Sanctorum website. Our payment processor is Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number. Once you have subscribed, you sign in to the mobile app with the same account and your subscription is active there.
6.2 Plans and prices
Current plans and prices are shown on our website at the time you subscribe. As at the effective date they are:
| Plan | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Free | AUD 0 | The Foundations lessons, one region of your choice (you may change it once), and the daily review — free for as long as Sanctorum exists. |
| Founding member | AUD 49 a year | Everything. Offered only to the students who took part in the beta cohort; the price stays fixed for as long as the subscription remains active. |
Paid plans for everyone else, and their prices, will be published on our website before Sanctorum opens to the public. If you joined the waitlist before public launch, any offer made to you will be stated in the email that carries your personal code, and that email's terms apply to it.
Every new account starts with a 14-day free trial of Pro — no card is needed, and nothing is charged unless you choose a plan.
All prices are in Australian dollars, and the price shown is the total you pay — there are no additional charges. Sanctorum Labs Pty Ltd is not currently registered for GST, so no GST is charged. If that changes, the prices shown will continue to be the total you pay, and your receipts will show the GST component.
6.3 Renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, unless you cancel first. We will email you a receipt each time you are charged.
If we change the price of your plan, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the change applies to you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
6.4 Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your account settings on the website. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not pro-rata refund the remainder of a period you chose to cancel partway through — except where the Australian Consumer Law requires otherwise (section 8).
6.5 Failed payments
If a payment fails we will retry and email you. If it is still unpaid after 14 days, we may suspend your access until it is resolved. Your study data is not deleted while an account is suspended for non-payment.
6.6 Free trials and offers
If we offer a free trial, we will tell you clearly how long it runs and what happens at the end. Unless we say otherwise, a trial converts into a paid subscription automatically, and we will email you before that happens so you can cancel.
7. Refunds
We want you to be happy with Sanctorum.
- Change of mind: If you are not happy within 14 days of your first payment, email us and we will refund it in full, no questions asked.
- Faults and failures: your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are set out in section 8 and are not affected by anything above.
To request a refund, email support@sanctorumlabs.com with the email address on your account.
8. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
For services, you are entitled to have them supplied with due care and skill, fit for the purpose you told us about, and within a reasonable time. For a major failure with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights. Where anything in these terms would do so, it does not apply to you.
9. Sanctorum is an educational tool — it is not medical advice
This is the most important section of these terms.
- Sanctorum provides educational content about anatomy and physiology. It is a study aid for students, not a clinical decision-support tool, not a diagnostic tool, and not a medical device.
- Nothing in Sanctorum is medical, clinical, diagnostic or treatment advice, and nothing in it should be relied on in assessing, diagnosing or treating any person.
- Do not use Sanctorum to make a decision about a real patient. If you are a student on placement or a practising clinician, your clinical judgement, your supervisor, your institution's protocols and primary clinical sources take precedence over anything here, always.
- We do not guarantee any academic outcome. Sanctorum does not promise that you will pass an examination, achieve any particular grade, or meet any competency or registration requirement. What you get out of it depends on your own study.
- Sanctorum is not a substitute for your course. It is designed to sit alongside your curriculum, your prescribed textbooks and your teaching, not to replace them.
- If you have a question about your own health, see a qualified health practitioner.
10. Accuracy of the content, and how to report an error
We work hard on accuracy. Our content is developed against recognised anatomy and physiology reference texts and goes through a structured verification process before publication.
Even so, anatomy and physiology texts genuinely disagree with each other on some points, and errors can survive review. We therefore do not warrant that all content is free from error or reflects the most current understanding on every topic. Always check against your prescribed texts and your teaching.
If you think something is wrong, please tell us — email support@sanctorumlabs.com with the unit and what you believe the error to be. We investigate every report, and corrections are one of the main ways the product improves. We may use your report, in a de-identified form, to correct and improve the content, at no charge to us.
11. What you may and may not do
You may use Sanctorum for your own personal study.
You must not:
- share, sell, lend or transfer your account or subscription;
- copy, download in bulk, scrape, screen-scrape, republish, redistribute or resell any of our content, including text, questions, images or illustrations;
- use any automated system — bot, crawler, scraper — to access the Service, or attempt to extract our content or question bank at scale;
- use our content to train, fine-tune or build any machine-learning model or competing product;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source code of the Service;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, or place unreasonable load on it;
- use the Service in breach of your institution's academic integrity rules, or to cheat in an assessment; or
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
12. Suspension and termination
You can close your account at any time from your account settings, or by emailing us.
We may suspend or close your account if you materially breach these terms — in particular by sharing an account, scraping content, or attempting to gain unauthorised access. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. Where the breach is serious or deliberate, we may act immediately.
If we close your account for a breach, we are not required to refund the remainder of your subscription period, except where the Australian Consumer Law requires it.
On closure, we handle your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy.
13. Our content and your content
13.1 Ours
All content in Sanctorum — text, learning units, questions, explanations, illustrations, images, software, design, and the Sanctorum name and logo — is owned by Sanctorum Labs Pty Ltd or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the content for your own study, for as long as your account is active. That licence gives you no ownership of anything, and it ends when your account does.
Some content is derived from or cites third-party reference works. Those citations identify the source of a fact; they do not transfer any rights in those works to you.
13.2 Yours
Anything you submit — feedback, error reports, suggestions, support messages — remains yours, but you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it to operate and improve Sanctorum. If you send us an idea for a feature and we build it, you are not entitled to payment for it.
14. Availability, changes, and things outside our control
- We aim to keep Sanctorum available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, updates, third-party outages and faults happen.
- We may change, add or remove features. If we remove something significant that you are paying for, we will give you reasonable notice and, if you are materially worse off, you may cancel and we will refund the unused portion of your period.
- We are not responsible for failures caused by things genuinely outside our control — your internet connection, your device, or an outage at an infrastructure provider.
15. Apple and Google
If you downloaded the Sanctorum app from the Apple App Store or Google Play:
- These terms are between you and us only. Apple and Google are not parties to them.
- Apple and Google have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app.
- We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for the app, its content, and for addressing any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty or infringes someone's intellectual property.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any US Government restricted-parties list.
- You must comply with the applicable app store's own terms of service.
16. Limitation of liability
Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (section 8), or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that:
- We provide the Service on an "as is" basis, and to the extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties not expressly stated in these terms.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of opportunity, or loss of academic or professional outcome.
- Where our liability can lawfully be limited, our total liability to you is limited, at our option, to resupplying the service or to refunding the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
17. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss or cost arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the Service, or your infringement of anyone else's rights — except to the extent it was caused by us.
18. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information, and forms part of these terms. Read it at https://sanctorum.education/privacy.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "last updated" date at the top always shows the current version.
For a material change, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in-app before it takes effect. If you do not accept the change, you may cancel before it applies. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
20. General
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia and the courts able to hear appeals from them.
- Severability. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right immediately, we do not lose it.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if we sell or restructure the business, and your rights will not be reduced.
- Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.

Annex A — Consistency prize (beta and cohort competitions)
From time to time we run a consistency prize for a named cohort (for example the beta cohort, or a university cohort in a pilot). These terms apply whenever you join one with a cohort code.
- What is scored. Consistency, not points. Your score is: active days × (½ + ½ × review rate) × (½ + ½ × retention). An active day is any day on which you answer at least one real question (one per day — extra answers on the same day do not add). Review rate is the share of your active days that included a review (Daily Rounds, a retention check, a refresh). Retention is your average retention-test score. The formula is shown in the app before the competition starts and does not change during it.
- A game of skill. Prizes are awarded on the published score, not by chance.
- Who can enter. Members of the named cohort who are 18 or over and joined with the cohort code before the end date. One entry and at most one prize per person. Our staff and their immediate family cannot win.
- The window and the prizes are shown on the competition card in the app and in the message that gave you the code. Ties are broken by more active days, then by the earlier join date.
- Winners are determined from our records within 14 days of the end date and contacted by the email on their account. Gift cards are delivered by email. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash beyond the value of the card itself.
- Fair play. Attempts to inflate a score (shared accounts, automated answering, deliberately failing and re-taking tests) disqualify the account from the competition. Our decision on scoring is final.
- Visibility. You are always eligible; whether your name appears on the board is your choice (the "Show my name on the board" setting). Others see you as "Anonymous" if you switch it off.
- Appreciation payments (for example a thank-you gift card offered to beta participants) are separate from the prize, are paid on completion of the stated participation conditions, and are not a wage or a payment for opinions.
- University cohorts. Where a competition runs inside a university pilot, it runs only with the institution's agreement and under any conditions the institution sets.
